Artificial Intelligent in Document Process Automation

Artificial Intelligence (AI) leverages computers and machine learning to mimic human intelligence processes through the creation and application of algorithms. In other words, AI are smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.

What is AI?

Artificial Intelligence is a wide-ranging branch of computer science that imitates human intelligence and actions on smart machines to perform tasks and solve problems. AI can be used to create more efficient workflows within our daily tasks by enabling smart machines to automatically do the heavy lifting for complicated tasks.

Many technology consumers already interact with artificial intelligence without realizing what technologies use AI. For example, the use of chat bots, smart assistants, and automatic language translation apps all require some type of artificial intelligence behind it.

How Does AI Work?

Artificial intelligence uses machine learning to mimic human intelligence. The computer learns how to respond to certain actions, by using algorithms along with constraints and other elements that help gear models towards thinking, perception, and action. Artificial Intelligence is powered by deep learning or machine learning, and it sometimes can be powered by a simpler process of rules or algorithms.

How Is AI used in Document Automation?

Essentially all the uses mentioned so far stemmed from machine learning, a subset of AI, that accounts for most benefits in document automation.

Machine learning in document automation is where the system learns how to perform a task, rather than being programmed how to do so. To learn, the document automation systems are fed huge amounts of data, which they then use to learn how to carry out a specific task, such as understanding handwritten text or images. The quality and size of this dataset is important for building a system able to accurately carry out its tasks.

The use of machine learning in document automation can thoroughly improve the way businesses process massive volumes of documents, analyze document structure, and categorize them based on share similarity and characteristics.

Why AI is Important?

AI technology is important because it enables human capabilities, from understanding, reasoning, planning, communication, and perception, which can then be undertaken by a computer and significantly lower costs and increase efficiency. It can be applied to every sector in the world and enable new possibilities and efficiencies.

Artificial Intelligence Technology Use Cases

AI generally falls under two broad categories – Narrow AI and artificial general intelligence.

Narrow AI, also known as Weak AI, is a type of artificial intelligence that operates within a limited context and is a simulation of human intelligence. It if often used to perform a single task extremely well and operate under specific rules and constraints.

A few examples of Narrow AI include:

  • Digital process automation
  • Accounts payable automation
  • Google Search
  • Self-driving cars
  • Smart personal assistants like Siri and Alexa

Artificial general intelligence, also known as Strong AI, is a type of artificial intelligence that we see in science fiction movies, where a machine has general intelligence, much a like a real human, and it can apply that intelligence to solve any problem.
